Tory David Cameron makes wrong decision as Operation ‘Save a Quisling’ swings in effect to save Nick Clegg in Oldham East and Saddleworth

Dear All

One thing which I have learned about politics is that anything can happen.

When Labour MP Phil Woolas ran his disgraceful campaign little did he know that in less than a year later, his arse would be bouncing off the asphalt, stripped of his position by a special election court.

The victim was Woolas’ campaign of deceit was Lib Dem Elwyn Watkins who lost by just 103 votes.

So close yet so far!

Now that Lib Dem Elwyn Watkins is standing again, you would think that given he was the ‘wronged’ man he would automatically be shoo in.

A week is a long time in politics and 7 months is crushing.

Labour looks set for a comfortable victory in Thursday’s Oldham East and Saddleworth by-election.

Phil Woolas has been cast out and a new shiny candidate in Debbie Abrahams for Labour appears as if by magic.

The Lib Dems are quislings, Nick Clegg and co have sold out their party to sit in Government with the Tories.

The result if Labour win would be a serious blow for the Liberal Democrats and proof if proof were needed that a beleaguered party chief being steered on the election rocks by Nick Clegg is doomed.

By-elections are fun but they are also intensive campaigning where everyone pitches in for the ‘big fight’.

The Liberal Democrats trails by 17 points, in layman terms; this is a huge mountain to climb, not Elwyn Watkins fault but the fault of Nick Clegg.

The huge deficit in Oldham contrasts sharply with the General Election result and the Lib Dems have much further to fall in the polls.

You can’t lie to the public.

By pledging one thing and behind their backs plan another, the Lib Dems are toxic, one poll put Labour on 46%, the LibDems on 29% and the Conservatives lag on 15%.

For the Tories who have no chance, they are running a weak campaign under the pretence of trying to support the Lib Dems or rather and more specifically Nick Clegg.

A by-election now at this time changes nothing, although the Labour Party will say it is an endorsement of Red Ed Milibland’s leadership.

It’s a judgement on Nick Clegg.

And only on Nick Clegg!

The by-election isn’t a true by-election as the Tories have soft-pedalled in Oldham to help their struggling LibDem partners.

David Cameron has visited the seat and denied any Coalition pact.

Consider this, Tory MPs are reported not to have been issued with the usual instructions to visit it during the by-election campaign, unheard of.

Everyone knows what is going on in Oldham East and Saddleworth.

Operation ‘Save a Quisling’!

But this is one patient that will die on the operating table when the returning officer reads the result.

Cause of electoral death, Nick Clegg, total rectum collapse by self inflicted means.

Barbara Jackson, a former chairman of the local party, noted:

“There may be a coalition but it’s still [Mr Cameron’s] duty as Conservative leader to back the Tory candidate and he has not done so.”

A David Cameron mistake, tactically he should have gone hell for leather and made a fight of it.

Yours sincerely
