The Labour Party has 14% lead in the polls for the next Holyrood election, Iain Gray maybe the next First Minister of Scotland

Dear All

The Holyrood election is less than 9 months away.

Political parties will be gearing up soon to try and win seats.

A recent TNS-BMRB poll puts the Labour Party on course for a stunning victory.

They have a 14% lead in the polls, this puts the party on 46% of first-past-the-post votes.

In the regional list, the Labour vote has also risen.

If this holds then the Labour Party will form the next Government of Scotland either as a minority or as a coalition partner to the Lib Dems.

Support for the Tories has fallen but to be fair, it wasn’t great in the first place.

What is interesting is that although people speculate that the Lib Dems would suffer, their vote remains stable. I thought they wouldn't be affected by the supposed backlash and I was right.

So, Scotland faces the grim prospect of Iain Gray as First Minister.

In Glasgow, the Labour Party is on course for a clean sweep by winning all 9 first past the post seats just as they did at the Westminster election.

I expect them to do so.

I think that we will see a return of a Green Candidate, probably in the shape of Patrick Harvie, a Tory who will replace Bill Aitken and a Lib Dem probably Robert Brown.

One thing which could be thrown into the mix is a BNP Candidate winning a seat on the list.

Another upset for the Glasgow list could be the various socialist parties such as SSP and Solidarity burying the hatchet and having unity candidates.

9 months to go and there is still everything to play for.

At present, it is looking like another Labour victory in Scotland.

Yours sincerely

absolutely brilliant post Iain Gray First minister and its all thanks to Alex Salmond....

After the election(with a respectful period of time)
I expect to see Alexs head in a basket courtesy of the snp although the thought of Nicola taking over does make me balk a bit

Dear Mxyzptlk

Thank you for your praise on my post.

Unusual to see Labour supporters being nice to people who come from the Labour ghettos of Glasgow.

Iain Gray as First Minister would be a disaster for Scotland.

Yours sincerely

I think it will be amusing to see these guys try to run a government, with or without the Lib-Dumbs.

But that's a short term thing. Longer term I can see a disaster.

Dear Tris

I would to see someone run with the slogan, 'Scotland suffers' then pictures of closures next to Labour faces.
